We provide free outdoor gear rentals to SMU students. We believe everyone should have access to the gear they need to work and play comfortably outdoors.

All SMU students! The Gear Library exists to equip students for the outdoors, whether it's a weekend camping trip, trying snowshoeing for the first time, or doing fieldwork. 

1) Browse gear on our Rental Page

2) Select pick-up/drop-off times to see gear availability

3) Reserve items for up to 14 days, make a profile, and check out

4) Pick up your gear at S333 (Science Building) during opening hours (see below)

5) Return your gear (clean, dry, and on time)

Note: reservations must be placed 24 hours before pick-up.

The Gear Library is run by the SMU Outdoor Society on a volunteer basis. It is an initiative by students, for students. If you would like to volunteer, donate gear, or have any questions, please email us.
